What the school offers its staff

Dear Potential Applicant.

Thank you for your interest in the Headteacher vacancy at Lytham Church of England Primary School.

Lytham is a seaside town on the Fylde coast, 15 miles west of Preston, with easy links to the M55 and M6 motorways. Often referred to as “Leafy Lytham”, we are blessed to educate our children in beautiful surroundings of parkland, close to the beach and seaside. Lytham CE sits in the parish of JC Lytham with two churches: St Cuthbert's and St John the Divine.

We are very proud of our vibrant school, amazing children and strong staff team and we were delighted to receive a good SIAMS judgement in September 2024.

Having recognised that the curriculum required development in late 2023, the Governing Board requested the support of Lancashire's Monitoring and Intervention Team. Our Ofsted inspection (in November 2024) acknowledged the work undertaken by our school and confirmed the actions necessary for continued progression.

This post will offer the right candidate an excellent opportunity to lead our school on its continuing journey of improvement. We require a headteacher who will decisively direct and influence current practice, continue the development and implementation of a clear vision for the curriculum and further establish the school in the local community and parish of JC Lytham.

Our school building has undergone many adaptations in recent years, with a modern school library and children’s kitchen offering wider learning opportunities for our pupils. We opened a Nursery Class in January 2022, which offers a thriving learning environment with a useful direct link to our Reception class.

Our Christian ethos: “Together we grow with God” is central to all we do. We are pleased to have a reputation as an inclusive school, which is welcoming and can support everyone to be the very best that they can be, within our nurturing Christian community.

Our teaching, support and administrative staff are a fabulous team, displaying professionalism, enthusiasm and innovation. Our Headteacher and staff are supported by a strong Board of Governors, who are eager to guide and provide the role of “critical friend”. We view ourselves as one Christian family.

At the current time, our focus is to see our school achieve the success that the community knows is possible: academically and holistically. We are keen to maintain pupil numbers and successfully manage the current financial challenges.

I would urge you to visit us on one of the allocated dates. As our parents say, once you step foot over the threshold you will feel the extraordinary potential of Lytham Church of England Primary School.

Yours sincerely

Mrs. Michelle O’Neill

Chair of Governors.
