The Roseland Multi Academy Trust was formed in 2016 and currently consists of five schools, three secondary schools, The Roseland Academy, Treviglas Academy and Falmouth School and two primary schools, Gerrans School and Tregony Community Primary School. All schools have a shared vision “Where Everyone Succeeds” and the Trust is committed to providing the best possible opportunities for all its staff and students.

Our schools offer outstanding education from Pre-School through to age 18 and we work collaboratively to ensure we strengthen our expertise and secure the best possible outcomes and school experiences for every student. The Trust has a very strong reputation in the region as it has achieved great success through a positive culture of working together and empowering all staff to lead in their roles. The Trust invests in its staff and provides exceptional opportunities for collaborative working, access to top quality CPD including the national qualifications but also leads a high level of internal CPD known as ‘Lead the Roseland Way’. The Trust regularly undertakes key stakeholder surveys and the outcomes from these are exceptional. With the possibility of being a Teaching Hub, the Trust will be placed at the very centre of teaching developments nationally.

Falmouth School joined the Trust on 1 September 2020. The Ofsted inspection in May 2019 designated the school as ‘Inadequate’ and this initiated the re-brokerage of their original MAT. Ofsted monitoring visits in February and November 2020, as well as robust school improvement priorities, are ensuring the school is moving towards ‘Good’. The Trust is confident in the strengths and areas for development and the school has made significant progress since its full inspection and are on a journey of rapid improvement.

We are looking for a motivational and effective leader who will further develop and drive the success of Falmouth School and who will share the values and ethos of the Trust to achieve this. The person appointed must have strategic leadership, management and organisation expertise of an academy. Together with the Trust and staff of Falmouth School you will strive to create a community which works together to ensure all students develop the skills, confidence and knowledge to achieve success at school and beyond.

Each Academy in the Trust is led and run by a Headteacher and each school in the Trust has maintained its own identity but enjoys close working relationships and collaboration between all schools. The Trust provides a balance of focused support and challenge, a breadth of opportunities, and it enables us to share best practice and ensure we benefit from the wealth of expertise available in our schools.

Our Trust is wholly committed to young people, ensuring that they have access to the highest quality teaching and learning experiences. We are all determined to make a difference to students across all Key Stages by developing their resilience and aspirations as well as their social and emotional intelligence. Our Trust is successfully raising academic standards and is committed to ensuring that high-quality education is being delivered across the Trust.

Falmouth School has undergone significant changes since its Ofsted inspection of 2019 and these changes have had a positive impact on the school and the community it serves. The school has a warm, purposeful and welcoming feeling. Students respond positively when asked about their experiences in school and they recommend their school to others. The school has developed a strong safeguarding culture and is developing a challenging and aspirational learning environment, through its focus on Quality of Education, which will continue to enable students to progress rapidly and attain outstanding outcomes.

The school has a PAN of 220 students in each year group and has a successful Sixth Form provision. At present, the number of students is below PAN. Relationships with the community are now much stronger and there is growing confidence in Falmouth School. The positive challenge for the Headteacher and all staff, is to grow that confidence and ensure that the Falmouth School becomes the school of choice for the community and one to be proud of.

As well as developing a strong academic ethos within the school, Falmouth School has an outstanding sports provision which has led to great success in both participation of sport for all and in sporting performance.

The Trust is seeking to appoint an aspirational and dedicated Headteacher to continue to drive forward the improvements at Falmouth School. The successful applicant will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership and have strategic responsibility of the school, with my support. This is a period of exciting change for the Trust and an opportunity for the right person to have a real contribution to our successful future. We have a fantastic group of primary and secondary partners and have very strong, open and supportive working relationships across the entire community.

Our Board of Trustees has a wealth of experience and our Trustees take an active role by participating in regular Multi-Academy Trust improvement days. They undergo regular training sessions to ensure they remain knowledgeable and up to date with the ever-changing educational landscape and are supportive of the leaders in our schools.
