Headteacher job summary
Thank you for your interest in the position of Headteacher at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Primary Academy in Blackpool. On behalf of the Governing Body, I am delighted to invite you to explore this exciting opportunity to lead a warm, welcoming, and deeply committed school community.
As a school rooted in the Catholic faith, Our Lady’s places Christ at the centre of all we do. We are proud of our strong sense of community, our nurturing ethos, and our commitment to helping every child flourish spiritually, academically, and personally. Our children are at the heart of everything — they are happy, enthusiastic learners who take pride in their school, and they deserve a leader who will guide them with care, vision, and ambition.
The school is very closely associated with The Parish of The Guardian Angels, Blackpool and is supported by Fr. Frank Osman and Fr. Christopher Loughran. Our Church, Our Lady of the Assumption, is located immediately adjacent to the school.
In the last two years our school has been rated good in Ofsted and Section 48 Inspections, we are also a Royal Shakespeare Company Associate School.
The school has recently joined the Blessed Edward Bamber Catholic Multi Academy Trust. This move brings a wealth of opportunity. As part of the Trust, we benefit from close collaboration with other Catholic schools across the Blackpool area, shared resources, and a strong network of support for both staff development and school improvement. The Trust is deeply committed to the mission of Catholic education and to ensuring each school retains its unique identity while flourishing within a family of faith-filled learning communities.
We are seeking a Headteacher who will not only uphold our strong Catholic values but also bring the skills, energy, and creativity to shape the next phase of the school’s journey. We are proud of our heritage and our place in the local Blackpool community, and we are looking for someone who will champion both with passion and purpose.
Our staff are dedicated and supportive, and our Governors are active and engaged, many with long-standing connections to the school. We see this not just as a leadership post, but as a vocation — a chance to make a lasting difference in the lives of our children and families.
If you feel called to this role, we warmly welcome your application and hope you will visit the school to experience the unique spirit of Our Lady’s for yourself.
