Headteacher job summary

Thank you for taking an interest in the position of Headteacher at Ridgefield Primary School. This post is available from September 2027 (an earlier start date may be considered).

We are looking for a Headteacher with the vision and drive to lead our primary school and nursery. This is a unique opportunity to shape the next phase of our development, inspiring staff, children and families in a diverse school that values creativity, resilience, and a love of learning. We are looking for a leader who will empower staff and pupils, build strong community partnerships, and continue our commitment to high standards, wellbeing, and equitable outcomes for every child.

Ridgefield is a thriving, inclusive learning community in the heart of Cambridge where every child is valued and inspired to reach their full potential.

We believe that when children feel safe, happy and genuinely excited about learning remarkable things can happen.

We are a one-form entry school with a 26-place nursery, and so we offer something increasingly rare: a genuinely family-centred environment where every child is truly known as an individual and where learning becomes an adventure that extends beyond the classroom walls.

Our experienced and passionate teaching team doesn't just deliver lessons - they inspire curiosity, celebrate effort, and nurture each child's unique talents and interests. They learn alongside the children, engage in meaningful dialogue with them and take genuine delight in their successes. Most importantly, they work relentlessly to ensure every child in their care achieves the best they possibly can academically, socially and emotionally.

Closing date for applications is Thursday 1st October 2026

Shortlisting will take place on Friday 2nd October 2026

Interviews will take place on Friday 9th October 2026
