Headteacher job summary
BMAT is looking for a talented and inspiring senior leader to become the new Headteacher of Royal Docks Academy, an 11- 16 school in Newham, East London with nearly 1200 students on roll. BMAT is driven by the ambition to be the best, believing exceptional leaders create exceptional schools. Our seven secondary academies and five primary academies- all located in Harlow, Newham and Stansted- are places of aspiration, where individuals matter and confidence flourishes to ensure achievement for all.
Royal Docks Academy serves the diverse and vibrant community of Newham, which was the main host London borough to The Olympic Games in 2012. The school has a committed, dedicated and hardworking team of leaders, teachers and support staff, and a comprehensive and challenging curriculum. Over the last five years the reputation of the school has improved significantly with many parents reporting that they are pleased with the education the school is providing to their children. It is also a fully inclusive school with a dedicated department for 25 pupils who have profound and multiple learning difficulties, supported by a PMLD staff team.
The new Headteacher will be responsible for ensuring that pupils at the school leave ready for a competitive world, with all pupils having made excellent progress. They will need to bring a track record of success, relentlessly high expectations for all, and a clear understanding of what high-quality teaching and learning looks like. They will need to be an excellent communicator and enjoy empowering others.
The ideal candidate to become the new leader of Royal Docks Academy could be a current Headteacher, but they could also be a Deputy Headteacher or Vice Principal who is looking to step up for the next stage of their career. They will be given every opportunity to collaborate with the other leaders across BMAT, with exemplary support offered throughout their career.
If you have a great track record of school leadership and a drive to do more, we would love to hear from you. To arrange a confidential and informal discussion about the role, please contact our recruitment partners Propelo on 01273 222 877.
