Headteacher job summary
Required for January or April 2022, the Governing Body are seeking to appoint an inspirational and motivated Headteacher who will be passionate about the education and welfare of our pupils and staff and build upon the strengths and achievements of the school. The successful applicant will be someone with outstanding ability, vision and potential, who would welcome the opportunity to prove themselves in the context of our school. This fantastic opportunity has arisen due to the impending retirement of our current Headteacher.
We anticipate that our new Headteacher will recognise the school’s uniqueness, grow our philosophy for learning and will bring drive and energy to their new role within our school. They will need to demonstrate a strong vision that supports the school’s Christian ethos and values and our desire to create confident, independent lifelong learners of all those within our school community.
The Governing Body are happy to consider Co-headship.

Sir Robert Geffery’s School stands out as a successful primary academy with high academic standards, superb facilities and very enthusiastic learners; indeed we pride ourselves as a ‘school for enthusiasts’. We are a forward thinking school yet steeped in over 300 years of history due to our strong connections with the Worshipful Company of Ironmongers. Our school is located in the village of Landrake, in a beautiful part of South East Cornwall, not far from the City of Plymouth.
Sir Robert Geffrey’s School is a happy, caring and supportive primary school with incredible warmth and a welcoming family atmosphere. We provide a nurturing, inclusive environment, based on Christian values, where all individuals are treated with fairness, respect and equality and where the interests of our pupils are paramount. The interests and aspirations of our children are what drive our innovative curriculum intent forward. We have an amazing team of dedicated, talented staff who work extremely hard to ensure that every child is supported, cherished and challenged to fulfil their learning potential in a safe, exciting and welcoming learning environment.
Our school is exceptionally well supported by the local community, parents and carers with whom we work closely in the best interests of all the children. Our new Headteacher will lead a dedicated and supportive staff team and work with a strong and experienced Governing Body as we move to the next stage of our learning journey.
Sir Robert Geffery’s School is an exciting place to work and learn and we would actively encourage applicants to come and see first-hand what we have to offer, from the infectious enthusiasm that pervades every part of our school community, to the school farm and outdoor learning environment and the ICT provision.
If you feel ready to be our next Headteacher and you can bring your experience, enthusiasm, commitment and energy to deliver a shared vision to our children and motivated staff, we would love to hear from you.
