Headteacher job summary

St Christopher’s School is located in Langford a village on the Oxfordshire/Gloucestershire border near to Burford, Carterton and Lechlade. Witney is nearby and Swindon, Oxford and Cheltenham are within 30 miles. We are a small Church of England primary school (current roll c140 pupils) and we were rated ‘good’ by Ofsted in our last inspection in November 2017. Our pupils come from the fringe Cotswold village of Langford and several nearby villages including Carterton. Our values are an important part of our school where the uniqueness of individuals is respected and valued and the achievements of all are recognised.

Who are we looking for?
Our new Headteacher needs to provide a strong, clear, inspiring and shared vision for the future with positive, incisive strategic direction and leadership for improving the school. We therefore are looking for the following qualities:

• A significant period of successful primary teaching experience
• Effective leadership and management experience with the ability to demonstrate tangible improvements and if not already a Headteacher, with leadership training
• A passionate and informed commitment to children’s development and their engagement with learning
• The ability to communicate a clear vision for the school and how it will develop over the next five years
• Broad personal curriculum knowledge linked with leadership of the staff team to develop an exciting curriculum with high standards of achievement
• The drive and ability to take up the role of leader, provide clear direction, manage development and change, enthuse and motivate others, inspiring continual improvement;
• The ability to identify, prioritise, monitor, evaluate and manage financial and human resources to achieve educational and pastoral goals
• An approach that is respectful to, and in sympathy with, the Christian foundation of the school
