What skills and experience we're looking for
Due to the retirement of the current Acting Headteacher, the Directors and Governors are looking to appoint a permanent Headteacher from September 2023. We are looking for an inspirational leader who will ensure that St. Joseph’s continues to provide broad and rich learning experiences for our students that are rooted in Gospel values.
This role is suitable for someone who is excited about taking a good school to new heights. Applications from new and experienced school leaders are welcome.
We are seeking a Headteacher who will
- Inspire, challenge and motivate staff to maintain and develop powerful teaching and learning;
- Bring experience of focussed, successful and sustained school improvement;
- Work closely with our Academy Council in the assessment, monitoring and evaluation of pupils’ progress, attainment and wellbeing;
- Be a committed member of the Senior Leadership Team of our Trust; and,
- Work collaboratively with the Trust team, as well as local and Diocesan heads, to ensure high standards of attainment, and to sustain and develop the school’s Catholic Ethos.
What the school offers its staff
We can offer you:
- Children who are enthusiastic, confident, and endlessly curious;
- Parents who are advocates for the school, and are keen to support their children’s learning;
- Staff who have high standards and expectations for all students, who are looking for clear direction, critical friendship and support;
- Supportive Governors who are aspirational for the school;
- A thriving and caring Parish community that works in support of the school’s mission; and,
- The opportunity to develop leadership across the Trust and the wider community.
As part of the Bishop Wheeler Trust you will be joining a successful and dedicated group of senior leaders who work collaboratively across all our schools within the Diocese of Leeds. Each school is also part of local and Diocesan partnerships.
Visits to the school are warmly welcomed, and if you would like to discuss this opportunity in further detail please contact Pauline Younts Ed.D., Academy Council Chair by emailing p.younts@stjosephsotley.org.
Further details including a job description, person specification and application form can be found at www.bishopwheelercatholicacademytrust.org/vacancies.
Completed application forms and accompanying documents should be emailed for the attention of Darren Beardsley (CEO) to Amanda Whelan at a.whelan@bwcat.org by the closing date.
