What skills and experience we're looking for
St Margaret’s is a warm, inclusive and vibrant school at the heart of our local community. We are proud to be a Church of England school where Christian values are lived out every day, and where children are encouraged to grow academically, socially and spiritually. Our vision, “A journey of learning, love, laughter and life in all its fullness”, shapes everything we do — It is underpinned by our mission, drawn from Proverbs 22:6: "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it."
We are looking for a Headteacher who not only understands this mission, but who can live and lead it with authenticity, energy and compassion. We are seeking someone who is kind, caring, firm but fair — someone who leads with both heart and high expectations.
We serve a wonderfully diverse community in an area of high socio-economic disadvantage, yet this has never defined or limited us. For many years, we have defied barriers and expectations. This is a school where children thrive — because they are seen, supported, challenged and inspired. We are looking for someone who has the drive, skill and resilience to continue to lead our school with the same unwavering belief that all children can flourish.
St Margaret’s is also at an exciting point in its journey, as we are currently in the process of academising and will be joining The Bishop Fraser Trust — a family of schools in Greater Manchester that share a common Christian ethos and a commitment to nurturing the whole child. This move will provide new opportunities for collaboration, professional development, and shared expertise across the Trust.
WE ARE SEEKING AN EXCEPTIONAL HEADTEACHER WHO:
- Will champion high expectations for all pupils and staff
- Can drive continuous school improvement while maintaining our caring ethos
- Will communicate effectively with children, staff, parents, and the wider community
- Has a proven track record of successful leadership and school improvement
- Will inspire excellence in teaching and learning, enabling every child to flourish
- Can lead with wisdom, integrity, and compassion
- Is committed to building strong relationships with pupils, staff, parents, governors, and the parish
What the school offers its staff
IN RETURN, WE OFFER:
- A welcoming, inclusive school with happy, engaged pupils
- A committed and collaborative team of staff and governors
- Strong community support
Opportunities for continued professional development whilst working collaboratively with colleagues and support from The Bishop Fraser Trust, and Local authority
