What skills and experience we're looking for
The Governors of St Michael’s CofE Primary School, Howe Bridge are looking for an inspirational Headteacher to lead their school on the next stage of its journey.
Governors are looking for an outstanding school leader who shows love, respect, kindness, faith, honesty and courage, and who:
- Has a proven track record of leading school improvement?
- Is a committed Christian who leads with Christian values?
- Has the skills, knowledge and experience to guide and inspire staff and children and support them to reach their fullest potential?
- Will make a significant difference in the community.
- Is committed to playing an active role in our thriving Church school?
Governors would like our new Headteacher to be committed to our vision and values and who will:
- Enable all children to achieve their potential.
- Promote high standards of behaviour to enable children to become self-disciplined, independent learners.
- Ensure the children feel safe within a caring, stimulating learning environment.
- Encourage respect for oneself and others, within the Christian ethos of the school.
- Foster a supportive, effective partnership between school, home, Church and the community through encouraging the active involvement of all.
The children at St Michael’s would like their new Headteacher to:
- Be loving, caring, generous, kind and helpful.
- Understand the children with needs and offer children different ways to learn, as they don’t all learn in the same way.
- To think about children’s differences and help them by knowing each one of them well.
- Have a good sense of humour and be funny.
- Give them a helping hand when they need it.
- Be interested in forest school.
- Help them to make the right choices.
- Look out for them, take care of them and keep them safe.
- Love to read, is creative and loves singing, music and art.
- Be someone who can support St Michael’s school values.
- Support the school’s charities and fundraising.
- Give them lots of clubs, like sport and who lets them join in with lots of different sports and competitions with other schools.
- Allow the children to be adventurous and go on residentials.

This post is likely to come under the requirements of the Childcare (Disqualification) 2009 Regulation and the successful applicant will be required to complete a declaration form to establish whether they are disqualified under these regulations.
As part of the shortlisting process, online searches will be carried out on shortlisted candidates in accordance with the requirements of Keeping Children Safe in Education.
