Our school is an ambitious, restless and inclusive learning community, where everyone is determined to out-perform their previous best. As a School with a long tradition we believe strongly in encouraging all students to make the most of their time with us, both academically and socially. This is achieved, we hope through a combination of enthusiastic teaching, modern resources, relevant curriculum and a caring ethos. We combine outstanding teaching with a rewarding, enriching curriculum which broadens students’ horizons and encourages them to believe in their abilities. We want young people to look back on a joyful school experience which has inspired and challenged them, giving them wide opportunities and prepared them for the ups and downs of life.
Commonweal School is a forward looking single status academy striving for academic excellence. We are part of an Education Strategic Partnership with 11 other educational establishments covering all age groups from 0 to 19. We seek to provide a high level of support and professional development for all staff. We are committed to realising our aim, which is to be known as a provider of high quality education for all our students, achieved by focusing on teaching and learning and the performing arts. We have two Specialist Resource Provisions, one for Physical Disabilities and one for Specific Learning Difficulties, both of which are an integral part of Commonweal life.
From September 2014 our new Sixth Form provision has enhanced and extended the school’s excellent curriculum, creating significant opportunities for up to 300 students to achieve their potential. Based in a purpose built three storey centre it offers an outstanding environment in which our students can succeed and grow, within a warm, caring and creative atmosphere. The school have also partnered with Swindon Town Football Club in the Community to provide a professional pathway into sport for our Sixth Form students.
