Headteacher job summary

West Ashton Church of England Primary School and Acorn Education Trust are seeking to appoint an inspirational and driven Headteacher for this nurturing, inclusive and hardworking school where all are valued and celebrated, with effect from September 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity for an existing senior leader to build on the many established strengths of this village school, leading its enthusiastic and dedicated staff towards further enhancement of the school’s offer.

Located in the beautiful village of West Ashton, just outside the county town of Trowbridge, Wiltshire, we are an ambitious and friendly school, educating children between the ages of 3 and 11 years. Our school community works together to develop our vision and Christian values (hope, wisdom, agape, friendship, thankfulness and koinonia), which are at the heart of our school and underpin all we do. Our goal is to give each pupil a thirst for learning, which continues with them throughout their life. In November 2023, we received a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating in all areas and were praised for being a fully inclusive school where everyone is respectful and demonstrate positive attitudes to learning. We are part of Acorn Education Trust, which provides exciting opportunities to improve local education and draw on collective experience.

We would like to hear from you if you feel you can strengthen our academic standards while retaining the distinctive Christian identity of our school.

We are looking for someone with:

  • The drive, vision and ambition to achieve excellence for all our pupils;
  • An excellent understanding of teaching and learning;
  • Proven leadership qualities and the ability to challenge, inspire and motivate colleagues
  • A proven record as an imaginative, innovative, resourceful and decisive leader;
  • An understanding of the current educational climate;
  • A desire to work within the Multi Academy Trust structure and as a result very strong support from an executive Head;
  • A strong Christian ethos.
