Health and Safety Officer job summary

Are you passionate about creating safe, compliant, and supportive environments for students and staff? GLF Schools is looking for a proactive and detail-focused Trust Health and Safety Officer to join our Estates team. Based at either our Banstead or Earlsfield office with hybrid working and travel across our schools - you’ll play a key role in supporting and advising on health and safety matters across the Trust. Working closely with the Trust Health and Safety and Compliance Manager, you’ll help monitor compliance, support schools with risk assessments and emergency planning, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our safety culture. Your Opportunity 

Working as part of the Estates team and reporting to the Trust Health and Safety and Compliance Manager, you’ll be a key point of contact for health and safety matters - supporting schools with risk assessments, emergency planning, accident reporting, and compliance monitoring. This role involves regular school visits, data analysis, and collaboration with colleagues to ensure safe, well-managed environments for students and staff across the Trust.

What we are looking for

  • Health and Safety / Risk Management Qualification (minimum NEBOSH certificate NGC or equivalent) 
  • Experience of working in a Health and Safety or compliance related role
  • Experience of working and supporting colleagues at all levels and providing advice
  • Good working knowledge of current health and legal framework and requirements
  • Good general IT skills, including experience of using compliance management or FM systems
  • Methodical and thorough problem-solving approach
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including to distil complex information into clear and easily understood reports
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly to locations across the Trust

The Details

Salary: GLF Associate Specialist - £33,000

Location: The Beacon School, Banstead OR Earlsfield Office / Hybrid / Visits to schools where required

Contract type: Permanent, 36hrs per week - full time. 

Start Date: ASAP
