Responsibilities

You will ensure the personal care needs of identified students are met, adhering rigorously to academy policy regarding hygiene, lifting, and medicine administration. This includes safely using specialist equipment, such as hoists and beds, and assisting students with mobility for appointments or hydrotherapy sessions.

You will support students during meal times, which may involve specialized procedures such as gastrostomy tube feeding, and ensure medicines are dispensed precisely according to policy and individual care plans. Crucially, you must report any changes or causes for concern immediately to your line manager.

Qualifications

Candidates must have or be willing to obtain a First Aid qualification within 12 months of starting the role. Experience working in a care environment is essential. Crucial skills include an ability to cope with the personal and physical needs of children and young adults, alongside a deep understanding of the importance of maintaining pupil dignity at all times.The post holder must demonstrate effective communication and be fully aware of the requirement to always follow lifting and handling, hygiene, and dignity procedures.
