Health & Social Care Teacher job summary

Health & Social Care Teacher

Required for September 2026

MPS

St Thomas Aquinas Catholic School is seeking to appoint a teacher of Health and Social Care for September 2026.

We are looking for an outstanding early career teacher who we can support and develop over several years.

This is a large and thriving Catholic comprehensive school in the south of Birmingham. It is undoubtably a vibrant community where staff and students from all faiths live out the school mission. GCSE examination results are excellent and place us in the 10% of schools nationally. Post-16 provision is also a strength. Reports from Ofsted and the Catholic Schools Inspectorate are exceptionally positive.

As well as wonderfully polite and well-behaved children to teach, St Thomas Aquinas Catholic School can offer you;

- the support of a highly experienced, caring and personable line manager

- a strong and loyal team of subject specialists who support each other and work well together

- a unique Professional Inquiry approach endorsed by experts which gives every teacher additional planning, preparation and assessment time to engage in their own research and reflective practice

- the ability to work from home through a Workload Charter

- a Professional Growth Model where every member of staff has ownership of and is supported in pursuing their career development

If you are passionate about working with children from disadvantaged backgrounds, this is a wonderful opportunity for the right candidate to build something special and make a huge contribution in a major Catholic comprehensive school. The person appointed should indicate a willingness to teach Food Technology if they are able.

As is standard, a two-year contract will be offered in the first instance for early career teachers. Prospective candidates are encouraged to visit the school, meet future colleagues and informally discuss the role and how we can grow and thrive together.

Closing date for applications is 9am on Friday 17th April 2026.

Interviews will take place the following week.
