Higher Learning Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

31.25 hours per week, Part Time

The Headteacher and Governors of St Luke & St Philip's CofE Primary Academy are seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Higher Learning Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and popular school.

This is a wonderful opportunity for the right candidate to join our vibrant primary academy as we continue our journey towards outstanding. As a member of the Cidari Academy Trust we work alongside other schools to continue to raise standards whilst preserving a very distinctive Christian ethos.

The successful candidate will be working in class and covering management release time across the academy.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be an excellent HLTA, with previous whole class teaching and group work experience essential
  • Be able to model excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have a good understanding of how children learn and have high expectations for children's learning
  • Be flexible and able to adapt to the needs of the children
  • Lead interventions for small groups of children in literacy and numeracy
  • Support children with SEND
  • Be committed to raising standards
  • Be able to liaise closely with teachers, support staff, parents and the wider community
  • Be enthusiastic, energetic, positive and approachable – with a good sense of humour!
  • Support and develop our aims and ethos built on Christian values

The right candidate will have:

  • The essential qualifications and experience as detailed in the person specification, including GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above
  • Experience of working with children with SEND (preferably a wide range of needs)
  • A proven ability to work on their own initiative.
  • A high level of communication skills and the ability to relate positively to children and adults.
  • The ability to use relevant technology/equipment.
  • A can-do attitude.
  • A commitment to the happiness well-being, self-esteem and progress of everyone at the school.

St Luke and St Philip’s converted from a Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School to an Academy in May 2014. We are now a member of the Cidari Multi Academy Trust.
Our school provides a grounding in the Christian faith for all its children with emphasis on collective worship as part of its daily life. Christian values are built into the ethos and teaching of our school with the support of all Governors and staff for its Christian foundation. We also seek to encourage an understanding and respect for other world faiths.
