The purpose of this post is to work with the Foundation Learning Lead and teaching staff to support the holistic development of pupils, providing specialist support to the teacher in any aspect of the curriculum.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have the resolve to make a real difference to the lives of students by equipping them for future success
  • Work alongside the Foundational Learning Lead to support students to better access the secondary curriculum
  • Have high expectations of themselves and the ability to instill these in staff and students alike
  • Be a committed team player
  • Be invested in enabling student progress, whilst also developing the students holistically

Essential

  • NVQ level 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification or experience together with a working knowledge of national curriculum and other relevant learning programmes/strategies.
  • GCSE English and maths at C (or above) Grade (or equivalent)
  • Experience of working with young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills

Desirable

  • Relevant information, communication and technology qualification e.g. ECDL etc.
  • HLTA status - Or working towards

We are a large secondary academy for students aged 11-16 years based in Hucknall and, together with our partner academies, offer post 16 study at the Hucknall Sixth Form Centre.

We support our young people, so they enjoy their time at the academy and play a key part in all that academy life has to offer. We are immensely proud of the successes achieved by our students and we constantly strive to do more and be even better. Our ultimate purpose is very simple – to do everything that we can to ensure that our students leave ready to take their place in an increasingly complicated and competitive world.
