Higher Level Teaching Assistant job summary

We have different HLTA roles available. Please read carefully and in your supporting statement, please be clear about which role/roles you are applying for.

You’ll join our friendly and dedicated team and have a positive impact on young minds and young people’s outcomes. You’ll have strong communication skills and be a good team player .

At Beaumont HLTAs play an integral role in delivering high quality teaching and learning across the curriculum.

Responsibilities undertaken consist of covering classes each week to support PPA and leadership time as well as short term cover for teacher/HLTA absence.

To undertake these roles you must be able to evidence a relevant qualification (PGCE/HLTA) or evidence sufficient experience in this role already.

Some of our HLTA roles are more specific such as delivering and teaching forest school, cooking and supporting in the additionally resourced provision.

To apply for the HLTA in Forest School, you must hold a Level 3 Forest School qualification and be First Aid trained.

To apply for the HLTA in food technology, you must have relevant experience in the food industry and /or a qualification in this field.

To apply for the HLTA role in the ARP, you will need to evidence experience/commitment to supporting pupils with SEMH complexity.

All HLTA posts have planning time to support high quality education.


Post 1 - HLTA for Forest School - 20 hours per week, salary £15330 - working pattern to be agreed.

Post 2 - HLTA for Food Technology - 22.5 hours per week, salary £17246 - working pattern to be agreed.

Post 3 - HLTA for Main School - 33.75 hours per week, salary £25869.

To apply for the HLTA in Forest School, you must hold a Level 3 Forest School qualification and be First Aid trained.

To apply for the HLTA in food technology, you must have relevant experience in the food industry and /or a qualification in this field.

To apply for the HLTA in main school, you must have a relevant qualification (PGCE/HLTA) or evidence sufficient experience in this role already.
