What skills and experience we're looking for
Clarion Academy Trust are seeking to appoint a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to work at Hobart High School, Loddon to provide support to a range of students within subject areas. Hobart caters for many students with a wide range of Special Educational Needs and has a committed SEN team. This position could be suited to a graduate seeking classroom experience prior to a potential teaching career or a Teaching Assistant looking to develop their skills, experience and career.
The SEN Department is firmly committed to the development of student independence and is characterised by exceedingly high expectations of the school’s SEN students and the progress they are expected to make.
- You will work under the guidance of teaching/senior staff and within an agreed system of supervision
- Implement agreed work programmes with individuals and groups, in or out of the classroom. This could include those requiring detailed and specialist knowledge in particular areas and will involve assisting the teacher in the whole planning cycle and the management/preparation of resources.
- Supervise whole classes occasionally in the short term absence of the teacher by maintaining order and keeping students on task.
You will be someone who understands and enjoys working with young people, is well organised, flexible, adaptable and enjoys variety in your work. You will be an excellent communicator with the ability to motivate students and gain their respect.
