Higher Level Teaching Assistant/Cover Supervisor job summary

What does the role involve?

As a HLTA/Cover Supervisor at Adelaide School, you will support teaching and learning by supervising classes, delivering classroom learning and ensuring students remain engaged and on task. The role includes working with pupils who have social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, promoting positive behaviour, supporting individual and small-group learning, and helping students achieve their academic and personal development goals. You will also work closely with teaching staff to provide a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. The ideal candidate must be able to build positive relationships and manage pupils’ behaviour effectively within a classroom environment and have an ability to be proactive and resourceful.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising classes and delivering classroom learning.
  • Supporting students with SEMH and additional learning needs.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement.
  • Assisting with learning activities and interventions.
  • Monitoring student progress and wellbeing.
  • Contributing to a safe, nurturing, and inclusive school environment.
