Higher Level Teaching Assistant job summary

The HLTA role is vital to the school and involves the planning and preparing of lessons and learning activities. You will be required to cover full classes in the absence of colleagues. You will also be required to manage and supervise pupil behaviour, and contribute to the maintenance of effective school administration. Are you driven to enable all children to succeed? In particular, successful applicants should have:

The Higher Level Teaching Assistant qualification

Level 2 qualification in English/Literacy

Level 2 qualification in Maths/Numeracy

Be able to provide evidence of a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people

Have the necessary experience of teaching year groups within Key Stages 1 and 2

Excellent classroom practice with the ability to create a classroom atmosphere that is achievement orientated

You should:

Have excellent communication skills 

Have the ability to build effective relationships with students, parents and other team members 

Have the ability to contribute effectively to support team work

Willingness and ability to move between key stages if required

ICT skills for both personal and classroom use

Highly organised with the ability to work using your own initiative
