Permanent, term time plus 1 week holiday hours
32.50 hours per week
Monday to Friday 8.30am to 3.30pm (with a 30-minute unpaid break)
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our Specialist SEND Unit shared across Overdale Infant and Overdale Junior Schools. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a caring, inclusive, and forward-thinking team dedicated to supporting children with a range of special educational needs.
Working under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO, you will play a key role in delivering high quality, individualised learning experiences that help children develop academically, socially, and emotionally. You may lead small group or whole class sessions, contribute to lesson planning and assessment, and help create a learning environment where every child can flourish.
- Provide a safe, nurturing environment where children learn, grow, and explore the world with confidence and joy.
- Deliver motivating learning experiences that encourage independence and celebrate every success.
- Equip children with functional life skills through a broad curriculum, preparing them for a happy and fulfilling transition beyond the unit into their local community.
- Work collaboratively with parents, carers, and professionals to ensure the best possible start for every pupil.
- Support the planning, delivery, and evaluation of engaging and differentiated learning activities.
- Lead lessons and small group interventions, advancing learning in the absence of the class teacher where appropriate.
- Foster pupils’ independence, emotional resilience, and self-esteem.
- Use a range of assessment tools to monitor and report on pupil progress.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to support individual learning and development plans.
- Model inclusive practice and contribute to the positive ethos of the SEND Unit and wider school community.
- Support and guide other teaching assistants or volunteers as required.
