We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our dynamic team.

About the role:

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our team and play a key role in supporting pupils’ learning and development across Key Stage 2. As a HLTA, you will work closely with teachers to deliver high-quality learning experiences, promote inclusion and support the progress and wellbeing of all pupils, including those with special educational needs. You will also lead whole classes during teachers’ PPA time and provide targeted intervention support to help pupils achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will support teaching and learning across KS2 classrooms and deliver the teaching of English and Maths to groups of pupils in Years 5 and 6. The role includes leading classes during teachers’ PPA time, providing tailored support for pupils with additional needs and delivering after-school small group tuition to prepare pupils for SATs. You will help create a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment where all children can thrive.

Applicants must have previous KS2 teaching or HLTA experience and a strong knowledge of the Year 5 and Year 6 English and Maths curriculum. Confidence in leading groups and whole-class sessions independently is essential, along with a commitment to raising pupil achievement and supporting inclusion. Strong communication and teamwork skills are also required.

Salary Type: Bucks pay

Salary details: Bucks Pay Range 3 - 4 depending on experience

Contract type: A Full time, permanent contract from 1st September 2026

Hours: 8:30-4:15 Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities

• Teaching and Learning:
• Support the work of the class teacher to enhance the achievement of all pupils.
• Lead and teach classes during teachers' PPA time, ensuring engaging and effective learning experiences.
• Promote inclusion by encouraging participation in learning and extracurricular activities.
• Use effective behaviour management strategies in line with the school’s policies.
• Planning and Assessment:
• Contribute to the planning and preparation of learning activities, using your area(s) of expertise.
• Monitor, record, and report on pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers.
• Prepare the classroom for lessons, ensuring a stimulating and safe learning environment.
• Collaboration:
• Communicate effectively with staff, pupils, and parents under the direction of the class teacher.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and relevant professionals to support pupil development.
• Participate in meetings with parents and carers to discuss pupil progress and barriers to learning.
• Professional Development:
• Engage in continuous professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge.
• Participate in the school’s appraisal procedures to reflect on and improve your practice.
