Higher Level Teaching Assistant - Integrated Resource (IR) job summary

We are seeking to appoint a passionate and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work within our Integrated Resource provision. The successful candidate will be committed to supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), safeguarding, and promoting the values and ethos of the Academy.

As a HLTA within the Integrated Resource, you will:

  • Support the learning, progress and wellbeing of pupils with SEND, enabling them to access a broad and balanced curriculum.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SEND staff and external agencies to deliver high-quality provision tailored to individual needs.

  • Complement teachers' delivery of the curriculum and contribute to the development of teaching assistants and students within the Academy.

  • Assist with planning, preparation of resources and the delivery of targeted interventions and personalised learning programmes.

  • Consistently demonstrate the expectations outlined in the HLTA Standards.

  • Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers where appropriate.

  • Support pupils to develop confidence, independence, communication and social skills.

  • Contribute to the professional development of colleagues across the Trust, sharing effective SEND practice.

  • Promote positive values, attitudes and behaviour, helping to create a safe and supportive learning environment.

  • Build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.

  • Engage, motivate and inspire pupils to achieve their full potential both academically and personally.

  • Advance learning outcomes across a range of classroom and specialist provision settings.

*You will be based at Swinton Academy but the role may involve working at other academies within the trust.
