About the Role

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant Level 1 at Hempnall Primary, you will play a pivotal role in supporting pupils’ learning and personal development. Working closely with qualified teachers, you will take responsibility for planning, delivering, and assessing learning activities tailored to individual and group needs, including pupils with SEND and those requiring specialist support.

Your role will also involve:

  • Supervising whole classes during short-term teacher absences
  • Managing behaviour and promoting positive attitudes in line with our school values
  • Supporting pupils’ personal and social needs, including administering first aid or specific care when required
  • Leading and guiding Teaching and Learning Support Assistants
  • Liaising effectively with staff, parents, and external professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to pupil development

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a strong commitment to supporting the learning and well-being of all pupils, particularly those with additional needs
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills and builds positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
  • Is confident in using IT and technology to enhance learning experiences
  • Can work independently and as part of a team, providing direction to other support staff when needed
  • Is reflective and eager to develop their own skills and knowledge continuously
  • Holds or is working towards a Level 4 Higher Level Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience
  • Has experience or training in specialist areas such as first aid or supporting pupils with specific medical needs is highly desirable
