Higher Level Teaching Assistant (Level 4) job summary

About Our School and Windsor Academy Trust

Welcome to our dedicated school team. We are a dynamic and inclusive community of professionals who play a crucial role in the daily success of our educational environment. Our staff are deeply committed to providing the operational excellence required to support our teachers and students, ensuring our school is a safe, welcoming, and highly effective place to learn and work.

We are incredibly proud to be part of the Windsor Academy Trust family. Working within the Trust means you benefit from shared expertise, wider opportunities, and a powerful network of support. This collective power allows us to focus relentlessly on our shared moral purpose: unlocking the academic and personal potential of every child, while ensuring our staff thrive.

About the Role

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will complement the work of class teachers by taking responsibility for delivering agreed learning activities to individuals, groups, or whole classes. Using your advanced specialist skills, you will meet the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional needs of our students, ensuring they reach their academic and personal potential in line with the overarching vision and values of Windsor Academy Trust.

Your daily impact will include:

  • Teaching and Assessment: Planning, preparing, and delivering challenging teaching and learning activities, while monitoring and evaluating pupil responses through a range of assessment strategies. You will systematically record progress and provide formal feedback and reports on student achievement.

  • Specialist Support and Pastoral Care: Taking a lead role in managing and delivering pastoral support, you will develop individual development plans and use your detailed knowledge to support students' learning.

  • Classroom and Cover Supervision: Providing short-term cover supervision of classes (including PPA cover) and managing the supervision of pupils not working to a normal timetable, all while employing effective behaviour management techniques.

  • Leadership and Collaboration: Assuming line management responsibilities where required (including allocating work and holding team meetings with other support staff), leading for the whole school in a specialist area, and supporting the crucial role of parents and carers in their children's learning.

  • Safeguarding and Ethos: Actively contributing to the culture and values of the academy, maintaining high levels of confidentiality, and complying strictly with policies relating to child protection, health and safety, and data protection.

About You We are looking for a highly organised and collaborative professional who:

  • Possesses strong operational, administrative, or technical expertise relevant to the school environment.

  • Thrives in an agile team and is always looking for ways to improve school systems and efficiencies.

  • Deeply understands that every role, whether in an office or a classroom, plays a vital part in unlocking student potential.
