Higher Level Teaching Assistant (Part Time, Temporary) job summary

Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School, Hartlepool is looking to appoint a Higher Level Teaching Assistant. As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school, working closely with teachers to enhance the educational experience of all pupils. This role is ideal for someone with strong classroom experience, a proactive attitude and a passion for helping students thrive academically and personally.

You will take on a range of responsibilities, including planning and delivering learning activities under the guidance of teaching staff, providing targeted support to individuals and small groups and occasionally covering whole classes. Your work will help ensure continuity of learning and contribute to raising pupil achievement.

In addition to supporting students, you’ll also assist with assessment, classroom management and the development of learning resources. Your ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents will be essential in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

This is a dynamic and rewarding role that offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students’ progress while developing your own professional skills within a collaborative school community. The role is:

  • 25 hours per week, Monday to Thursday;
  • band 7, SCP 8-11;
  • temporary; and
  • term time only.
