Higher Level Teaching Assistant job summary
Southtown Primary School is a welcoming school who aim to nurture, encourage and develop our students throughout their primary education. We are seeking an enthusiastic, hardworking and flexible HLTA to join our warm and welcoming team. This is a temporary role (until August 2026) for 32.5 hours per week, term-time plus one week (39 weeks) per year.
You will be responsible for instructing groups and classes of pupils to provide PPA and CPD cover to teaching colleagues, as well as providing short-term cover for absent colleagues. Flexibility, adaptability and a willingness to approach change with a positive attitude are therefore essential in this role.
Experience in a similar role and flexibility to work across the school would be a distinct advantage.
You will:
- have the ability and enthusiasm to motivate pupils;
- have experience of teaching or instructing within the primary phase and/or Early Years;
- possess excellent behaviour management skills and be able to form positive professional relationships with pupils;
- have patience, empathy and the ability to think on your feet;
- demonstrate flexibility and the ability to adapt to meet the needs of the school.
