Further details about the role

Due to the current success of our Enhanced Resource Base and popularity across the city, we are extending our provision further in September 2023. This means that we are looking to appoint a Higher Level Teaching Assistant with a commitment to Special Educational Needs and Inclusion to work in our Enhanced Resource Base.

Our Enhanced Resource Base is a specialist base for children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), including complex communication and interaction difficulties, within a mainstream school. We provide specialist and targeted support and provision delivered in order to meet the children’s individual needs.

In the Enhanced Resource Base, the children have access to specialist equipment, resources and skilled staff but also have access to the benefits of being in a mainstream school; the Enhanced Resource Base is not separate from the rest of the school. Enhanced Resource Base children are an integral part of our school and will have access to the facilities and opportunities that this provides.

Children who attend the Enhanced Resource Base will have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) with Autism and/or complex communication and interaction difficulties as their primary area of need.

The Enhanced Resource Base works on an individual approach in order to meet the needs of each child; there is no specific way of doing things. Our vision is:

“To equip our children with the toolkit they need in order to meet their individual needs and to feel included in and participate in the wider life of the school through access to a mainstream provision. To work in partnership with parents, mainstream staff and outside agencies to develop children’s self -regulation skills, increase their independence and prepare them for their future lives.

Commitment to safeguarding

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of
children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share
this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to
undertake an enhanced criminal record check via the DBS.
