Higher Level Teaching Assistant, with English Specialism job summary
Wren Academy Enfield opened in September 2020 with a first cohort of Year 7 students and has then grown each year with the addition of a new year group. Our oldest students are now in Year 12, following the creation of our Sixth Form in September 2025, offering the full range of A Levels.
We are looking for a dynamic and highly motivated HLTA (with English specialism) to join our team.
Duties include:
- To support students with individual learning needs. This will include those who require assistance in accessing the curriculum and who need additional challenge in order to extend their learning.
- It is important that the candidate is confident in delivering interventions in English and can support in developing our literacy programme for students with SEND.
- To support student in lessons and liaise with the teacher to ensure suitable differentiation is provided.
- To work with team to co-ordinate the administration of spelling and reading tests and other assessments.
- To collaborate with parents and teaching staff to complete personal learning plans for students.
- To be a key worker for and work closely with students with an EHCP.
- To collate information on students with individual learning needs and circulate to teaching staff as necessary.
- To line manage and develop the practices of teaching assistants.
- To plan for and implement student interventions to enable their progress in lessons.
- To work with students in classroom, small group and one to one scenarios.
- To liaise and communicate with parents as appropriate.
- To take part in the Academy’s staff duty rota.
- To take part in the Academy’s enrichment programme.
