Our school, a real hidden gem, is located in the rural and beautiful village of Longwick, two miles from Princes Risborough and five miles from Thame. At Longwick, every child is at the heart of everything we do; we want our children to enjoy learning, be curious and succeed. We take pride in providing a safe and exciting learning environment where every child is valued and can fulfil their true potential. We are looking for a HLTA who is passionate about outdoor learning and can support Key Stage 1, and run Forest School sessions across the school. Experience and skills in this area would be desirable; however, full training will be provided for the right candidate.
We are a welcoming, friendly team committed to inclusion and diversity, and we welcome applications from all community members. Please see the attached job description for the role.
School visits are warmly encouraged to meet the team and children.
We will be considering applications when we receive them.
This role is for 32.5 hours, 38 weeks a year plus Inset days.

We are committed to our staff and offer benefits which include:

Longwick Schoolis committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment. All post holders in regulated activity are subject to appropriate vetting procedures and a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Enhanced check. The ODBST is an Equal Opportunities employer.
This post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exemptions) Order 1975 because it is a post which involves working directly with children or young people and the applicant is required to declare any criminal convictions (or cautions or bind-overs) including those which are “spent”. The amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975 (2013, 2020) provide that certain spent convictions and cautions are ‘protected’ and are not subject to disclosure to employers, and cannot be taken into account. Guidance and criteria on the filtering of these cautions and convictions can be found on the Disclosure and Barring Service website: Guidance on the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the Exceptions Order 1975. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
Commitment to safeguarding
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore applicants are required to declare:
- All unspent convictions and conditional cautions
- All spent convictions and adult cautions that are not protected (i.e. that are not filtered out) as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2020).
It is an offence to apply for the role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children. All shortlisted applicants will be required to complete self-disclosure form and return prior to interview.
