What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for an higher level teaching assistant to join our team. This would be perfect for an experienced teaching assistant looking for their next challenge or someone with experience working with children who is interested in qualifying as a teacher is the future. It might also suit a qualified teacher who is looking for a different way to use their skills.

The HLTA role will be a combination of:

  • expertly supporting teaching and learning during teacher-led lessons
  • leading small group interventions
  • covering for staff absences across the school, including whole class teaching to cover both planned and unplanned teacher absence

The post may also include some timetabled PPA cover.

We are looking for someone who:

  • is passionate about supporting every child to achieve
  • has the confidence, presence and experience for whole-class teaching
  • will support our trauma informed schools approach
  • has the interpersonal skills to develop positive and supportive relationships with children, colleagues and parents
  • is able to use their own initiative and can 'think on their feet'
  • is efficient and organised
  • has a working knowledge of the primary curriculum, especially English and maths
  • has experience working with children with special educational needs
  • has HLTA status (or meets the criteria to achieve it)
