About the Role

We are looking for a passionate and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) /PPA Cover to join our committed team. This role is pivotal in supporting teachers by organising and delivering teaching and learning activities for individuals, small groups, and whole classes under professional supervision. Hours

  • 15 hours per week, term time only

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver specified learning activities tailored to individuals, small groups, or whole classes, adapting as necessary under teacher supervision.
  • Assess, record, and report on pupils’ development, progress, and attainment.
  • Liaise effectively with staff, parents, carers, and other professionals to support pupils’ learning and wellbeing.
  • Use teaching and learning objectives to plan, evaluate, and adjust lessons and work plans within agreed supervision frameworks.
  • Support pupils’ social and emotional wellbeing, reporting concerns appropriately.
  • Contribute to Individual Plans and participate in reviews.
  • Support parental involvement in pupil learning and attend meetings to provide feedback.
  • Assist in policy development and implementation.
  • Provide cover supervision and manage classroom support staff as required.
  • Manage resources, liaise with external agencies, and provide pastoral care.
  • Support pupils with daily routines encouraging independence.
  • Assist with the presentation of displays and classroom environments.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Recent or current experience as an HLTA is essential.
  • Proven experience supporting learning in a primary school setting.
  • Ability to plan and deliver learning activities under teacher direction.
  • Experience working with pupils with diverse needs, including SEN, EAL, or gifted pupils.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with staff, parents, and external professionals.
  • Competence in assessing and reporting pupil progress.
  • HLTA status or equivalent qualification.
