What skills and experience we're looking for

St Mary’s RC Primary School are currently seeking an HLTA. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Trust at the beginning of a journey of transition, development, and growth within the multi-academy trust

St Mary’s RC Primary School is looking for a HLTA who is experienced in working as a Teaching Assistant across both KS1 and KS2. In your role as a HLTA you will perform additional duties to a Teaching Assistant. You will support teaching and learning in classes as well as planning and preparing lessons when the class teacher in not available. Where necessary, you will also deliver support to small groups to help improve outcomes for pupils. As this role includes working across KS1 and KS2, you should be confident in working with all ages. You should be an excellent communicator, committed to meeting the needs of all pupils and willing to adapt.

We are seeking an individual who:

  • Proficient in English and Maths
  • Computer literacy, including confidence in incorporating computers into classroom lessons and using digital record-keeping software
  • Support learners in social and emotional well-being, reporting to the class teacher or pastoral lead where necessary
  • Confident to plan and deliver lessons to a KS1 or KS2 class
  • Plan, prepare and deliver learning activities to classes, small groups or 1 to 1
  • Adapt and modify activities to meet the needs of all learners
  • Identify barriers to learning and devise strategies to support learners
  • Verbal and written communication for effective classroom instruction and understanding students’ needs
  • Excellent Interpersonal skills for working with students, Teachers and parents/carers
  • Understanding of the expectations of the KS1 and KS2 curriculum
