What skills and experience we're looking for

  • GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade 4-9 or equivalent).
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care (desirable).
  • Driving licence (essential).
  • Working with children and families, ideally in a school or special educational setting.
  • Supporting pupils with additional needs (SEMH, ASC, SLD, PMLD).
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and proactively.
  • Strong IT skills and understanding of safeguarding procedures.

About the Role

  • Build positive relationships with families to empower them in supporting their children.
  • Provide practical and emotional support to improve school attendance and well-being.
  • Act as a link between families, schools, and external agencies.
  • Lead Early Help Assessments and attend multi-agency meetings.
  • Deliver parent workshops and training sessions on topics such as autism awareness and communication strategies.

Bishopswood is a community special school in South Oxfordshire that provides specialist education for children aged 4 – 16 years with severe (SLD) or profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and complex needs, including those children with ASD.
