Are you passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning, develop emotional resilience and achieve their full potential?
Glory Farm Primary School is seeking compassionate, proactive and dedicated professionals to join our Inclusion Team. We are offering an exciting opportunity for either:
One individual to undertake a unique dual role combining the responsibilities of Home School Link Worker and Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA); or
Two individuals, each undertaking one of the roles separately.
These rewarding roles involve working closely with children, families, school staff and external agencies to improve attendance, strengthen home-school relationships, support vulnerable pupils and provide targeted emotional literacy interventions.
The school is seeking to appoint either:
One candidate to undertake both roles (13.5 hours per week in total), or
Two candidates, one for each individual role.
The positions are available on the following fixed-term contracts:
Home School Link Worker (Grade 7): 7.5 hours per week
ELSA (Grade 6): 6 hours per week
Combined Total Hours: 13.5 hours per week
Contract Type: Fixed Term until 31 August 2027
Working Pattern: 39 weeks per year (term time plus INSET days)
About the Role

Home School Link Worker
As our Home School Link Worker, you will support families of disadvantaged, SEND and vulnerable children, helping to strengthen engagement between home and school and ensuring children are able to access education successfully.
Key responsibilities include:
Working alongside the Senior Leadership Team to support improvements in attendance and punctuality.
Building positive and constructive relationships with parents and carers.
Providing guidance and support to families, including parenting advice and practical assistance.
Undertaking home visits in line with school procedures.
Providing emotional support and helping to build confidence and self-esteem in children and families.
Signposting families to appropriate services and sources of support.
Supporting families during periods of challenge or crisis.
Working closely with external agencies and ensuring effective communication and follow-up.
Supporting and, where appropriate, leading Team Around the Family (TAF) processes.
Maintaining accurate records and producing reports as required.
Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA)
As our ELSA, you will provide targeted emotional literacy support to children through individual and small-group interventions.
Key responsibilities include:
Attending ELSA training and professional development opportunities.
Supporting the school's trauma-informed approach to inclusion and wellbeing.
Planning and delivering tailored emotional literacy programmes.
Helping children develop emotional awareness, emotional vocabulary and social interaction skills.
Supporting children to manage stress, grief, anger and conflict.
Promoting positive self-esteem, confidence and resilience.
Supporting children to develop and maintain friendships.
Planning and delivering small-group social skills programmes.
Maintaining concise records and evaluating the impact of interventions.
Working closely with the SENDCo, teaching staff, parents and external agencies to support children's progress.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
Is calm, empathetic and patient when working with children and families.
Has experience of working in a school or educational setting.
Has experience supporting children and young people with SEND, behavioural, emotional or mental health needs.
Has experience working collaboratively with parents, colleagues and external professionals.
Has excellent listening, communication and relationship-building skills.
Can tailor interventions to meet individual needs.
Is organised, proactive and able to manage their workload effectively.
Maintains accurate records and uses IT systems confidently.
Understands barriers to learning and the importance of early intervention.
Is committed to inclusion, equality, diversity and safeguarding.
Shares the school's ethos and values and is committed to achieving the very best outcomes for children.
Essential Qualifications
GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above), or equivalent.
For applicants applying for the ELSA role (or the combined role):
Hold a recognised Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) qualification and engage in regular supervision and continued professional development to maintain effective practice.
