Home School Link Worker job summary
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and families? John Mason School is seeking a compassionate. proactive and committed Home School Link Worker to join our team and play a key role in improving attendance and strengthening the relationship between home and school.
As a Home School Link Worker, you will support children and families facing barriers to learning, attendance, or well-being. You will work closely with families, school staff, and external agencies to ensure that every child has the opportunity to succeed and thrive both at home and school.
This is a varied role that involves working both in school and within the community. You will visit families at home, support children in attending school, and work closely with the pastoral teams, Attendance and Welfare Office, social services and other professionals to identify barriers and develop action plans.
Key Responsibilities
To build positive, supportive relationships with families
Work closely with school colleagues to identify students who may benefit from additional support
To provide early intervention to address issues affecting attendance, behaviour or emotional well-being
To signpost families to relevant support services
To support safeguarding procedures and multi-agency meetings as required
To maintain accurate and confidential records of support provided
Key Experience Required
Experience working with children, young people, and families within a educational, social care or community setting
A strong understanding of the challenges facing families and how these can impact a child’s education
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
Flexibility, empathy and non-judgemental approach
