0.6 working mostly from home for YES Connected, with occasional travel to our Trust schools, home visits and the Central Office when required
0.4 based at The Raise Academy, Widnes
Teacher Pension Scheme
We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a passionate Science teacher to work across two distinctive areas of The YES Trust: YES Connected and The Raise Academy.
This unique hybrid role combines 0.6 teaching within YES Connected, our innovative online alternative provision, with 0.4 classroom-based teaching at Raise Academy, a fantastic specialist school for students with SEMH. It offers the successful candidate the opportunity to deliver Science in two different learning environments, develop their practice and make a meaningful difference to young people who need a more personalised approach to education.
YES Connected and The Raise Academy are personalised and child-centred, built around our Trust core values:
Adaptive to need
Child-centred
Authentic relationships
YES Connected supports schools and local authorities to reach learners who face barriers to accessing full-time education within a traditional school setting. Our mission is to provide an excellent online education while working closely with home schools to strengthen each student’s knowledge, confidence and wellbeing, with the ultimate aim of supporting successful reintegration into school life.
Alongside this, the successful candidate will teach Science at Raise Academy, providing engaging, practical and high-quality classroom-based learning. Working across both provisions will allow the teacher to build strong relationships with students, deliver the Science curriculum in creative and accessible ways, and support learners with a wide range of individual needs.
The successful candidate will play an important role in shaping the continued development of Science across YES Connected and Raise Academy. Within YES Connected, this will include designing and delivering engaging online learning, from short-term interventions to full curriculum pathways and live lessons delivered as part of individual education plans. At Raise Academy, the role will provide opportunities to deliver face-to-face teaching, practical activities and personalised support within an established specialist school environment.
This is an exciting opportunity for a science teacher who wants to combine the creativity and flexibility of online teaching with the relationships and practical experiences offered through classroom-based learning. The role provides the opportunity to influence curriculum development, explore innovative teaching approaches and help shape Science provision across two very different but closely connected learning environments.
Both YES Connected and Raise Academy are committed to providing high-quality, nurturing education that removes barriers and enables young people to experience success. This role has the potential to be life-changing for learners, families and educators, and will only be limited by our imagination.
If you are passionate about science, inclusion, innovation and making a genuine difference to young people, we would love you to join us on this exciting journey.
We are seeking a qualified Science Teacher to join YES Connected and Raise Academy in this shared role. As Virtual Science Teacher and Science Teacher at Raise Academy you will deliver engaging, high-quality lessons to learners who need a different approach to education. This role combines your subject expertise with creativity to design personalised learning experiences that help students overcome barriers and achieve success.
This role is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning of science and providing comprehensive student support within the YES Connected and The Raise Academy. To deliver the vision, our subject teachers will work in collaboration with the Head of School for YES Connected and Headteacher of Raise Academy focusing on three key themes:

A whole education, recognising that essential precursors to academic success are personal and emotional development, independent living and decision-making skills and discovering meaningful interests and goals
A personalised curriculum including specific engagement activities based on the interests of each individual learner
Positive and trusted adult role models in the form of Learning Mentors and qualified teachers recruited for their enthusiasm for working with disconnected young people and their ability to understand and adapt, in order to meet the needs of the students
Opportunities to support social and emotional needs through individualised programmes and a varied curriculum
Unlocking every child’s potential
The curriculum will determine the knowledge, and skills students will learn at each stage. It will be planned efficiently to deliver exceptional lessons where students make outstanding progress, and are able to relate their learning to the wider world
Individualised learning programmes, based on the interests and skills of the students and which draw upon the diverse range of pastoral, vocational, engagement and personal and social development activities
Small groups of students (max 1:10) with capability to offer 1 to 1 student support
Practical application of knowledge to develop skills that prepare for accreditation and work towards independence and social integration

Positive learning environments with praise for success and recognition of achievement
Regular liaison with parents and carers to involve them fully in the education of their children including weekly progress telephone calls
Celebration of success through weekly celebrations with students and staff rewards for targeted elements and high-profile annual celebration events
