What skills and experience we're looking for

Vacancy Information

Sandy Lane Primary School is an inclusive and thriving school located in the heart of Bradford. We are proud to foster a strong sense of community and are committed to providing an environment where every child feels valued, safe, and inspired to achieve their full potential.

Our school is on an exciting journey toward becoming a trauma-informed school, emphasizing the understanding and removal of barriers to learning that some of our children face. We aim to create a nurturing environment where children can grow socially, emotionally, and academically, with tailored support to help them overcome challenges and thrive.

We are looking for a dedicated Inclusion Leader to join our passionate team and lead the development of a culture that prioritizes the wellbeing and inclusivity of all pupils. Ideally, you will have a background in children’s social care, children’s mental health, or a related field and possess the skills needed to implement evidence-based, trauma-informed practices.

We operate an inclusive behaviour policy and aim to evolve this further by helping children understand their actions, reflect on their behaviours, and learn valuable life skills. If you are passionate about helping children develop resilience, emotional intelligence, and a deep understanding of themselves and others, we want to hear from you.

Your Role Will Include:

  • Leading and shaping the school’s approach to inclusion, working closely with staff, pupils, and families to develop trauma-informed practices.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to create and implement strategies to support children with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Supporting the school’s inclusive behaviour policy, helping children learn from their actions in a supportive and restorative environment.
  • Providing professional development for staff to build capacity and expertise in inclusion and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Building strong partnerships with external agencies, including social care and mental health services, to provide the best support for our pupils.

We Are Looking for Someone Who:

  • Has experience in children’s social care, children’s mental health, or a related area.
  • Is passionate about supporting children to overcome barriers to learning and thrive in a nurturing environment.
  • Has knowledge or experience of trauma-informed practices and restorative approaches to behaviour.
  • Is an excellent communicator who can inspire and empower staff, pupils, and families.
  • Is proactive, reflective, and committed to continuous learning and development.
