About the Role

Working under the direction of the SENDCo, you will help ensure students who experience difficulty engaging with learning get the tools needed to achieve personal and academic success. You will support student transitions into school, deliver defined learning activities, and support staff and parents with strategies to promote integration. You will also carry out key screening activities with mobile students to deliver support at the point of need.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering specific learning activities to individuals or groups, including groups without a teacher present.
  • Supporting students in or out of the classroom through 1:1, group, or in-class interventions to meet learning plan targets and overcome social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) barriers.
  • Working with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to develop and implement specialist learning and engagement plans.
  • Contributing to the planning, preparation, and resourcing of learning environments and alternative provisions.
  • Maintaining required school records and providing feedback and reports on student progress to teachers.

  • Promoting classroom inclusion, using ICT to support learning, assisting with break-time supervision, and adhering to whole-school policies on safeguarding, behaviour, and health and safety.

About You

You hold an NVQ Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) with relevant experience, or have substantial experience working in a similar role. You understand child development, learning processes, and the impact of SEMH issues on learning and language development.

Requirements for the role:

  • Experience working with children with SEMH needs and delivering 1:1 and group activities to improve engagement and inclusion.
  • Knowledge and experience using de-escalation strategies.
  • Excellent literacy and communication skills to write clear, detailed reports, notes, and plans.
  • Proficiency in ICT, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding standards, continuous professional development, and the values of Pathway Trust.
