What skills and experience we're looking for

Key Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and extensive experience in primary education.
  • Proven experience leading inclusion, or pastoral care.
  • Deep understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Previous or current experience as lead DSL
  • Ability to model excellent inclusive classroom practice.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to motivate staff and work with families.

Core Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership:Develop and implement the school's vision for inclusion, equality, diversity, and safeguarding.
  • Inclusion and Pastoral:Manage behaviour, attendance, and pastoral support systems (e.g., Trauma Perceptive Practice).
  • Teaching and Learning:Drive high-quality, inclusive classroom practices and mentor staff to remove barriers to learning.
  • Data and Monitoring:Analyze pupil performance data to track progress of vulnerable groups and report to governors/trust.
  • Staff Development:Coach staff to develop skills in supporting special educational needs and mental health.
  • Partnership Work:Work with parents, families, and external agencies to support student welfare.
  • Deputising:Lead the school in the Headteacher's absence.
