We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and compassionate Intervention Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated SEND and Inclusion Team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced practitioner who is passionate about making a difference to the lives of young people, particularly those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

About the Role

The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and the SEND Department to promote high-quality teaching and learning across the school.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting and enhancing teaching and learning within classrooms.
  • Providing targeted support to individual pupils and small groups to facilitate access to learning and promote positive educational outcomes.
  • Planning and delivering structured phonics programmes to support literacy development.
  • Delivering core reading interventions, including the Just Reading programme.
  • Supporting pupils on adapted timetables through one-to-one and small-group provision.
  • Planning, delivering, and evaluating intervention programmes focused on social skills, literacy, numeracy, language development and life skills.
  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching staff to inform future planning and support strategies.

Promoting pupil engagement, achievement, and a positive learning environment in line with the school's values and expectations.

Promoting independence, confidence, self-esteem, and social inclusion.

Supervising students throughout the school day, including during unstructured times where appropriate.

Working collaboratively with teachers to adapt resources and learning activities to meet individual needs.

Supporting the implementation of EHCP outcomes and SEND provision.

We Are Looking for Someone Who:

  • Holds GCSE English and maths Grade A-C (or equivalent - e.g. Certificate in Adult Literacy / Numeracy Level 2).
  • Has experience working with children or young people, preferably in a secondary school setting.
  • Delivered intervention that support the learning needs of children that has had a positive measurable impact
  • Has a strong understanding of SEND, including Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language Needs, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
  • Can build positive, professional relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Is able to motivate and inspire young people to achieve their best.
  • Has excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Shares our values of respect, compassion, service, and excellence.
