Your new role

As our School IT Network Manager, you will play a key role in development and strategic management of the School’s IT networks and systems ensuring effective support for the teaching, learning and administration. Working in collaboration with external partners and the SLT, includes managing all aspects of IT technical support, guidance, maintenance and ensuring the school is secure it its IT systems and infrastructure for the future. This post will be the first point of contact for IT Support within the school for staff, students and parents, and the ideal candidate should be able to manage expectations when faced with unidentified problems.

You should take pride in responding quickly and effectively to all support requirements and help everyone get the best out of the school IT Systems.

The main roles and responsibilities will include:

  • To manage/develop as required the schools IT systems and supervise IT support staff
  • Advice on compatibility of hardware, applications and operating systems, IT system support across the School Server and network management
  • Cyber security
  • Design and implementation of network infrastructure
  • Manager active network components including switches and routers; wireless access points and firewalls.
  • Following H & S procedures and raise awareness with staff, pupils and other users
  • Update configurations and installations
  • Management system continuity
  • Strategically develop, plan and implement ICT services
  • Support an active IT helpdesk
  • Support a wide range of hardware and software solutions across a variety of teaching and learning environments
  • Part of a large and exciting new IT Projects
  • Project management skills
  • Provide support for the servers and network infrastructure
  • Provide hardware & Software for computers and laptops
  • Maintain all ICT related peripherals
  • Maintain inventory of hardware & Software

What you will need to succeed in this role includes:

  • 3+ years in an IT Management role ideally– working in an educational setting would be desirable
  • Excellent communicator both orally and in writing
  • Effective team player, innovative thinker, a proactive approach who also embraces change
  • Confident and able to work independently
  • Experience of providing support to end users in a PC/Network support role
  • Working knowledge of LAN topologies and architectures, (including DHCP, DNS) and Wireless networks
  • Ability to install, test, and deploy software
  • Experience of Windows 11 desktop environments
  • Working knowledge of AV systems including projectors/TV’s/Interactive whiteboards
  • Working knowledge of, Office 365 and key educational software; MIS
  • Strong understanding of general IT Support including using various methods or remote support
  • Ability to design and create helpdesk procedures
  • Confidence to deal with new people at all levels and situations
  • Ability to work independently without supervision and request additional support when required
