IT Technician job summary

Acorn Education Trust is looking for a dedicated and experienced IT Technician to join our dynamic team and provide IT infrastructure support across our Wiltshire-based schools, starting as soon as possible.

Working Hours: Full Time (37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year). Required: ASAP

At Acorn Education Trust, we pride ourselves on transforming education locally, with our two nurseries, sixteen primary and four secondary schools being at the heart of their local communities. As we expand, we are increasing the capacity of our IT team and the appointed IT Technician will be expected to provide technical support to students and staff across our Primary school settings.

The successful candidate will report to the Trust Head of IT and be primarily based at one of our education hubs in the Warminster, Trowbridge or near Amesbury areas. While this role will predominately be based at our Avon Valley Academy Secondary School in Durrington, travel between sites will be required so a driving license is essential.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has an outstanding all-round knowledge of IT hardware and software (an appropriate IT qualification is desirable);
  • Has over three years’ IT experience;
  • Holds a full and clean driving license;
  • Has strong interpersonal and communication skills and is able to work with pupils and staff with varying IT expertise (previous experience working in a similar client-facing role would be an advantage);
  • Is self-motivated, dedicated and consistent;
  • Is a strong team player, able to use their own initiative;
  • Has a positive and flexible attitude;
  • Has the ability to deal with new challenging situations;
  • Has proven leadership skills (advantageous);
  • Is able to work independently for all level 1 and level 2 issues and escalate all level 3 issues to the Senior Technicians;
  • Can maintain the integrity and security of the IT systems;
  • Can support with diagnostics, troubleshooting and implementing solutions to improve IT equipment, usage and skills.

We can offer the successful candidate:

  • An ambitious and vibrant place to work, with enthusiastic children and staff who are passionate about learning;
  • A workplace where everyone feels valued and supported;
  • Opportunities for training and progression;
  • The support of Acorn Education Trust, with excellent opportunities to work with experienced colleagues;
  • A supportive and clearly defined induction procedure.
