IT Technician job summary

About the Role

In this pivotal role, you will travel between our schools, providing hands-on support and troubleshooting for range of classroom technologies including Apple products such as iPads and MacBooks. You’ll be the go-to expert, ensuring that both staff and students can make the most of their digital tools, while upholding the tried-and-true methods that have always underpinned quality education.

Key Responsibilities

Apple Product Support:

o Set up, configure, and maintain Apple devices for optimal classroom performance.

o Troubleshoot hardware and software issues swiftly and efficiently.

o Advise staff on best practices for utilising Apple technology in teaching and learning.

Classroom Technology Support:

o Resolve issues with interactive boards, audio-visual systems and other technologies.

o Support the smooth operation of digital learning tools and educational apps.

o Assist with the installation and configuration of classroom tech to enhance the learning experience.

Staff & Student Assistance:

o Offer clear, patient technical support and training on the use of digital tools.

o Manage user accounts and resolve access issues to maintain seamless learning environments.

o Carry out routine checks and maintenance to pre-emptively tackle issues.

o Ensure timely updates and patches are applied to keep devices in top form.

Collaboration & Training:

o Work closely with teaching staff and the Digital Learning team to explore innovative uses of technology in education.

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications & Experience:

o Relevant IT qualifications, especially those related to Apple technologies (e.g. Apple Certified Support Professional, Apple Teacher).

o Experience in supporting and maintaining Apple products in a professional or educational setting.

o Familiarity with interactive classroom technology is highly desirable.

Skills & Attributes:

o Deep understanding of Apple ecosystems (iOS, macOS) and strong troubleshooting abilities.

o Excellent communication skills – you can explain technical issues in plain English to non-technical users.

o A proactive, detail-oriented approach and the ability to work independently across multiple sites.

General Requirements:

o Full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential for travel between schools.

o Successful applicants must be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check in line with our safeguarding policies.
