Location: Saint Benedict Catholic Voluntary Academy, Duffield Road, Darley Abbey, Derby, DE22 1JD
Based at Saint Benedict Catholic Voluntary Academy in Derby, you will support the Regional Network Manager in running the ICT infrastructure and software systems across the region. You will report directly to the Regional Network Manager and be responsible for supporting a wide range of hardware and software solutions in the teaching and learning environments.
Duties include assisting with ICT projects and providing support to staff and pupils. You will be working in a busy helpdesk environment, logging incidents, resolving problems, implementing new technologies, deploying software, maintaining accurate inventories and updating network documentation.
The ICT service desk provides cover during working hours Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of the role certain tasks may need to be undertaken out of hours and at weekends, a certain level of flexibility is required and offered in return.
Your responsibilities
- To maintain, update & support various ICT Networks.
- To meet every schools customised ICT requirements.
- To complete installation of new & existing software packages across the networks.
- To provide technical support for all users.
- To provide training to users.
What are we looking for?
The Placement IT Technician role requires candidates to be working towards a degree in Computer Science or Information Systems, with strong literacy and numeracy skills. Formal training in Windows Desktop, Windows Server, or Microsoft Office is desirable. Essential technical skills include customer service abilities, knowledge of LAN topologies, software installation, Windows desktop and server experience, and familiarity with Microsoft Office. Desirable skills include experience with Apple hardware, networking, VoIP systems (3CX), virtualised environments (HyperV/VMware), and cloud platforms like Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and Intune.
Personal qualities sought include teamwork, effective communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills, along with a commitment to professional development, confidentiality, and safeguarding. Candidates should be able to work independently, meet deadlines, and contribute positively to the school community. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are desirable due to travel between schools.
