Job Description
Post Title: Programme Tutor (Full time on a secondment basis)
Responsible for: LETTA trainees
Responsible to: Programme Leader
Job Purpose & Accountability
To lead, mentor and coach a group of LETTA trainees in order to ensure high-quality across all partner
schools and enable all trainees to excel.
Key requirements and experience
1. An outstanding teacher with least 5 years teaching experience
2. Prior experience developing staff
3. A good knowledge and understanding of the LETTA programme and ethos
4. Successful completion of Effective Classroom Observation training and LETTA coaching and
mentoring training (or willingness to undertake)
5. Evidence of:
the ability to communicate effectively
the ability to organise and prioritise workload
the ability to network and make strong links
Personal skills and attributes:
1. Approachable, calm, accessible and friendly
2. Sensitivity towards the needs of others and an understanding of when confidentiality is appropriate
3. Reliable, well organised and flexible with good time-management
4. Be pro-active and use initiative
5. Excellent listener, communicator, coach and role model
Role specific activities
Observe and support trainees and their mentors in school
Participate in training and attend relevant meetings
Support, monitor and develop trainee teachers
Support school-based mentors with observations, assessments and judgements
Provide timely oral and written feedback on trainees’ progress against the Teachers’ Standards,
using relevant course documentation
Write trainee references
Facilitate tutorial support sessions and training, as appropriate
Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of the programme
Share information regarding the progress of the trainee with the trainee, the school-based mentor
and the programme leader and inform all parties immediately of any concerns;
Support the preparation of summative assessments for external review and the Final Assessment
Board
Be accessible via email and phone and respond to all communication quickly
LETTA tutors to comply with any reasonable work requests to enable LETTA to meet the ITT criteria
