This is more than just a business management role—it’s your chance to shape the future of a thriving, high-achieving secondary school in the heart of the stunning Peak District.

Following the retirement of our longstanding SBM, we’re looking for an experienced, emotionally intelligent leader who is passionate about supporting education through strong financial stewardship, operational excellence, and strategic vision. Whether you're already in a school business leadership role or bring high-level experience from another complex setting, we want to hear from you.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Be a key driver of strategic development, working alongside the Headteacher and Governing Body to shape the future of our school.
  • Oversee finance, HR, compliance, and operational support, ensuring every pound and process supports great teaching and student outcomes.
  • Lead and inspire teams that deliver essential services, playing a crucial role in the daily success of our school community.
  • Partner with the Embark Trust Central Team, accessing expert support and professional networks through our SBM Hub and trust-wide development programmes.

Who You Are:

  • A strategic thinker and skilled problem-solver, with a background in financial or operational leadership (school experience preferred but not essential).
  • People-focused and emotionally intelligent, with a calm, confident approach to leading others through change and challenge.
  • An advocate for collaboration, flexibility, and innovation—ready to contribute fresh ideas to a senior team that’s driving real impact.

What We Offer:

  • A varied, rewarding leadership role with real purpose
  • A school culture built on trust, integrity, teamwork, and success
  • A strong commitment to professional growth, supported by Embark Federation’s expert network
  • Excellent benefits, including:
    • Local Government Pension Scheme
    • Employee Assistance Programme
    • Wellbeing Platform
    • Cycle to Work Scheme
    • A personalised plan to help you achieve your aspirations
