Temporary 12 months fixed term contract until 31st August 2025, to cover maternity leave.

Key Stage 3 - Pastoral Manager

OAT Grade 6: £30,296 - £33,945 FTE (actual salary £26,059 - £29,198)

Hours: 37 hours per week, Term-Time Only

Work shift pattern: Monday – Friday 8.15am – 4.15pm (3.45pm on Friday)

Ormiston Meridian Academy are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Pastoral Manager. As a support member of staff you will have responsibility for all aspects of safeguarding, pastoral care and wellbeing for the students in Key Stage 3 (Years 7, 8 and 9). You will also have some responsibility for the academic achievement of some of the most vulnerable students in these year groups, providing them with the best possible support as they complete their GCSE Qualifications.

You will address the needs of individual students and support them to overcome barriers to learning both inside and outside the academy in order that they reach and exceed their full potential.

Main objectives:

  • To safeguard all students within Key Stage 3
  • To arrange and conduct appropriate safeguarding meetings with internal and external professionals
  • To provide outstanding pastoral care
  • To support the mental health and wellbeing of Key Stage 3 students
  • To promote excellent attendance
  • To support students with their emotional and behavioural needs
  • To find solutions for disadvantaged students where their economic status affects their ability to meet and exceed their potential
  • Ensure all students adhere to the uniform policy and support families where issues arise

Key Requirements

  • GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above or hold certificates in Literacy and Numeracy Professional Skills.
  • Functional Skills Level 3

Skills and Experience

  • Have an understanding of the needs of vulnerable students.
  • Have experience of dealing with young people facing challenging circumstances.
  • Have an awareness of educational policies regarding safeguarding.
  • Have an awareness of strategies to support students with various SEND needs.
  • To work constructively as part of a team whilst being able to demonstrate initiative and flexibility.
  • Be a positive role model in the Academy community.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills to be able to relate well to a wide range of people including professionals and parents.
  • Possess the ability to positively manage behaviour.
  • The ability to focus learners on tasks in a positive manner.
