Key Stage Pastoral Lead (Non-teaching) job summary
An opportunity has arisen from September for the role of Key Stage Pastoral Lead (Non-teaching) at Kings Norton Girls’ School and Sixth Form (KNGS), on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours per week on a term-time only basis (0.88 FTE). KNGS is an OFSTED outstanding school and is part of the West Midlands Multi Academy Trust with a comprehensive intake and a co-educational sixth form. We are seeking a committed, resilient and highly organised Key Stage Pastoral Lead to join our team. This is a pivotal non-teaching role, focused on supporting students’ behaviour, attendance, wellbeing and overall success. The successful candidate will uphold the school vision of “opening a world of opportunities“ for all students and support them in demonstrating respect and courage so that all can flourish.
Working closely with the Head of Key Stage (KS3 or KS4), you will lead the day-to-day pastoral care of students, ensuring school expectations are upheld in line with the School’s Behaviour for Learning Policy and that barriers to learning are quickly identified and addressed. You will manage behaviour incidents, support attendance and punctuality improvement, engage with families, and deliver targeted interventions to support our students to thrive.
The successful candidate will be a strong communicator with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents/carers and outside agencies. You will be able to remain calm in challenging situations and consistently maintain high standards. A visible presence across the school and a proactive, solution-focused approach are essential.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading and delivering daily behaviour management and follow-up.
Supporting students to improve their punctuality and attendance.
Working with parents/carers to address concerns.
Delivering targeted pastoral interventions.
Supporting student wellbeing and safeguarding.
Maintaining accurate records and contributing to a consistent pastoral system.
